Like many others I have tried everything to get into shape, lose weight and improve my overall health and fitness. I have been attending gyms on and off for years. I would initially make progress but my motivation would cease and eventually I would just stop going. I could never see results immediately and my lack of accomplishment would eventually win out and I would give in and find excuse after excuse not to attend the gym. Working shift work and being in a somewhat stressful job I found it difficult to develop exercise patterns or find a personal trainer that could accommodate my ever changing roster.
I stumbled across Positive Fit in Mandurah and eventually walked in through the door. I liked what I saw. The staff were friendly and it is not a huge impersonal place. I met Marty, Jason and the whole team who made me feel relaxed, motivated and confident that I could achieve the results that I wanted.
I have never considered a personal trainer but decided that perhaps having someone push me beyond my limits would benefit me. Jason was my first personal trainer and pushed me to do things that I never thought I would be able to do. After Jason left, Marty took on the role of being my Trainer. Felt fantastic about this seeing as how he owns the place and I know his time is precious. Marty continues to provide me with technical feedback, motivation and encouragement. I am impressed with Marty’s knowledge, understanding and his confidence in me. I make appointments with Marty twice weekly which is brilliant. The workouts are challenging but Marty pushes me a bit further every session and I am constantly surprised at what I can do. There is plenty of variety and never the same old routines, each session is a surprise.
I recently took part in the HBF, 14km fun run. Now this is somewhat of an achievement for me seeing as how I don’t really like running. Without the support and dedication of the Positive Fit team and their confidence in my abilities there is no way that mentally I would have been prepared to even take the run on.
The team at Positive Fit make exercise and attending the gym, less like a chore and more of a social, motivational and fun place to be. The other members of the gym are like an extended family and I feel warm and welcome from the moment I step through the door. For me this is very important. If it feels like a chore then I find it hard to keep going back.
I feel fitter, stronger, happier and healthier. I enjoy my sessions at the gym whether it is PT sessions or taking part in any number of group classes. The instructors are a fantastic, happy, positive bunch of people that provide the necessary motivation and laughter that keeps me coming back. I love it and look forward to each session.
My goals, although they change every now and then, are being met without struggle and that is the main thing for me. For the first time ever, I am enjoying going to a gym.
My motivation slips every now and then but when this happens I find myself wanting to go back due to the positive influence these people have on my life. My only regret is it took me this long to find a friendly, motivational and positive place to be able to achieve my fitness goals.
Thanks to the team at Positive Fit. You guys rock!!!
