Tammy – Week #5

After her good week last week, Tammy hit a bit of a hurdle this week.

The most important thing for everyone to know – is that this is normal. It makes no difference if you’re an elite athlete such as Dianne Hunt, or Mr or Mrs Average. WE ALL GO  THROUGH DARK DAYS.

Its why I always refer to our fitness experiences as a journey. We think we know where we want to go, usually we’re not sure how to get there and we definitely dont really know what our eventual destination will be.

Its why your Personal Trainer is so important. I spent 30 minutes with Tammy yesterday not just reviewing what happened, but more importantly what led to her feeling the way she was.

Remember that we’re all addicted to various things – some of which will harm us and some of which are good. The gym is a good addiction – replace your harmful addictions wth good ones.

Always looking forward.

Tammy Blog – Week #4

Woo Hoo! 5kgs lighter!
I’m very happy with that and as a result got to train with the new PT Dianne. I was scared.
Have you seen her? She’s all muscle and I thought OMG she’s going to kill me!
As it turned out the session was great and she’s hilarious, so the time went fast and I can’t wait to do it again!

Tammy – Week #4 – WOW

Tammy has reached the first of her goals – after 4 weeks, is now at 145 kgs.

This is showing Tammy is on track to complete her goals. Importantly Tammy has made up for the interruption last week in moving house etc with everything back on track this week.

Tammy’s body fat and abdominal fat measurements have reduced and her hydration is improving.

Tammy had a great session with Dianne on Tuesday – and enjoyed being pushed hard for an hour. Her strength will surprise people and I’m looking forward to her continuing changes.

Tammy Blog – Week #3

This week has been pretty stressful with packing up a house that you’ve been in for ten years. You certainly find stuff that you haven’t used in ages and probably aren’t going to use any time soon.
I missed a couple of classes at the gym, but I figure moving all the contents of the house myself was a workout in itself considering the house is two stories. I can tell you I’m almost sick of going up and down stairs!
But with the move almost complete I have been able to resume a somewhat normal routine back at the gym.

Tammy – Week #3

With a traumatic weekend of moving house, Tammy has still done a good job, losing another kilogram this week.

After 3 weeks, Tammy has now lost 3.5kgs.

The moving over the weekend meant that some classes were missed, but shows the benefits of retaining a healthy eating regime.

Last night Tammy was tired and sore – but was still here in the gym and still trained for an hour. She is getting much stronger and while there is still a long way to go, its looking good at this stage.

I shows that despite some of the stresses of life, we can all find ways to keep striving towards our goals. It will all get harder yet.

Make sure you follow Tammy at Positive Fit – and go up to her and say “hi”.

Tammy’s Blog – Week #2

I’m still feeling good going into my second week at the gym.
I have found after only doing my program a short time I have a little more energy and my sleeping has definately improved as I’m out like a light in no time.
Not being a water drinker I have to mentally remind myself to have a drink. This has been a CHALLENGE! But my hydration levels are improving slowly. My body aches as I’ve found muscles I didn’t even know I had, but there is a sense of pride knowing I didn’t stop in any of my training sessions.
This fitness stuff is addictive!

Tammy Week #2

Tammy’s second week of training – and as we’ll do every week, we revisit the scales.

A good weight loss of just under 2kgs, but importantly a change in body composition which is the target of all people training.  So we’re trying to improve Tammy’s hydration up from a low figure of 32% to where everyone should be which is over 50%.

A poor level of hydration and low levels of muscle combined with high body fat percentages is a recipe for disaster. The human body is not designed to operate in this manner.

Tammy’s sessions this week were as follows:

Monday – BodyStep – 7.30pm

Tuesday – PT session with Marty 4.00pm – 1 hour – focus on muscle development

Wednesday – Cardio program – 1 hour

Thursday – BodyPump – 6.30am

Nutrition session with Tash – 7.30am – establish nutrition plan

Friday – PT session with Marty 4.00pm – 1 hour – focus on cardio muscle

Saturday – Cardio Program – 1 hour

Sunday – rest

Tammy’s Blog – Week #1

“My first week back at the gym was challenging. I made sure I came everyday so that I could get into the routine of coming to the gym.
BodyStep class was great -  with my two left feet, but I made it through which I was happy about. Not having done BodyPump class for a very long time I wasn’t sure how I was going to go. I pushed through the burning and before I knew it the class was over and I felt better for it.
By the end of the week I had, had enough and just wanted to come home from work and laze on the couch, but knew I had to make it through the gym doors and as I finished my session on the treadmill I was greatful that I had made the effort.”

Tammy’s on her way – Week #1

The transformation we’re all going to follow – and the one you will be amazed at – has begun.

Tammy restarted her gym challenge in May beginning with martial arts sessions with our black belt – Barry.

Her challenge the past 2 weeks has been to be in the gym everyday – it doesnt matter how much she does, or even what she does – the biggest challenge for every gym member is getting to the front door. Tammy’s training will be as much dealing with the mental issues as well as physical.

Her first weigh-in saw Tammy nudge the scales at 150kgs. This will be our measure of change. All the other measures that we use in the gym will not be as important as this one, as this is what will ultimately affect her life. Tammy’s metabolic age is in excess of 50 years of age – and for a 35 year old, this is traumatic. Tammy’s hydration is at 32.9% These figures show Tammy’s body is in shut down, with everything just supporting her body weight. Tammy’s week will consist of

Her first week’s program includes:

1. 40 minutes of cardio every day

2. 20 minutes of circuit

3. 1  Body Step class

4. 1  Pump class

5. 2 PT sessions

6. 1 Consultant Nutrition session

The transformation has begun – stay tuned

Amazing Member Transformations

Positive Fit members are often very generous in their time to help each other. With that generosity in mind a few members have offered to share their transfomations so that all of us can identify with some of the issues which may be holding back progress.

As a special feature Tammy has offered to begin her journey with us right here on the website and allow all of us to follow her through the coming weeks and months.

We all know the difficulties of achieving the targets we’ve set ourselves, and throughout Tammy’s progress, I hope to highlight how to overcome some of these difficulties. The importance of good nutrition will also be highlighted.

We’ll be lucky enough to be part of what other members such as Natasha and Rachel have already achieved and watch as they progress to the next stages in their journeys.

It will be an exciting ride – and then watch for your chance to make your own transformation – with exciting prizes worth more than $1000. This is not just for members wanting to lose fat – its also for members wanting to add muscle.

The language I use is body shaping – no matter who we are – thats what we’re doing!!
